One of my greatest gratification in the last 4 years is forming a community of C-suite executives who angel invest with me through a gig coined C-shark Tank and trust me implicitly. Last season we decided to take our 8th season away from Singapore offsite to Bali. We invited Chandra Firmanto who without hesitation came and joined us throughout the program. I did not know Chandra before, save being one of my VC jury for one of our seasons. The eagerness of him to share and the curiosity of our C-suites really made our Bali escapade rather memorable. This season 9, we are going to Bintan and I am inviting Andrew Khoo, Executive Chairman and CEO at MALAYAN UNITED INDUSTRIES BERHAD. In some ways they share some commonalities. They both have family businesses that have grown into sizable empires and they too are learning and contributing to avenues beyond their businesses. I can't wait to ask about many facets as I follow Andrew's posts of all the cool stuff he gets exposed to around the world. A lucky bonus, I anxiously await the newly launched bear memento from his A&W restaurants. I think it's refreshing for global multinational C-suites to meet business leaders as them who are the movers and shakers in bringing new ideas, technologies, developments to Asia. These offsites offer more than just a speech / a talk for learning. We break bread together and really take time to know each other (and some spouses too) in a more endearing fashion.
